Mortal Kombat 9 Returns to Its Roots

Most people have trouble remembering a video gaming world that did not have the Mortal Kombat series in it. The latest rendition is Mortal Kombat 9, which hopefully will save the franchise from destruction and return it to glory. It is returning to its roots in style and in gameplay.

There were many avid fans of the Mortal Kombat series for a long time, but a lot of them lost interest in the series when the developers began to make additions and changes which were unwanted and unsuccessful. As a result, the developers of Mortal Kombat 9 have decided to go back to their roots – in more ways than one.

Brutality has always been a part of Mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat 9 is no different. The game features gruesome destruction of the fighters, including dismemberment and blood oozing from every wound and scattered limb. This is especially noticeable when the player loses a fight. The pinnacle move in the new Mortal Kombat is called the “X-Ray Move,” and it stays to this tradition of brutality nicely. The X-Ray Move shows an opponent’s ruptured organs and broken bones in the midst of the fight, and then it causes even more damage. This is the kind of brutality that Mortal Kombat fans love, and Midway Games was smart to include this kind of thing.

But Mortal Kombat 9 returns to its roots in more ways than just its brutality. The story begins with the main character, Raiden, about to die, and uses the last of his power to send a message to himself, back in time, at the beginning of the original Mortal Kombat. So Mortal Kombat 9 follows the original storyline of the first game, pitting you against 80+ enemies to save the world from destruction. Like in the original games, the fighting takes place in a 2D world, but now it is enhanced with strong 3D visuals. Even the original controls are used in the new game.

Mortal Kombat 9 is a return to MK’s roots, which should please fans everywhere; it remains brutal and brings back the things that everyone loved about Mortal Kombat.
